CJ7: AC Delco vs Motorcraft alternators?
« on: April 26, 2016, 06:46:12 PM »

The workshop manual says that AC Delcos were fitted to "all 6 cylinder models" while Motorcraft were fitted to "all V8 models".

My V8 has an AC Delco....

Any idea what the difference was in practice? (the AC Delco seems to fit OK...)

FYI. This was true until 1978 - then they fitted AC Delco's to the V8s as well. (the workshop manual was from 1977.... :die:)

Dont worry too much over it, I fitted a Bosch many moons ago.
Its lasted well and probably has sealed bearings as opposed to shielded as it still doesnt rumble even 20 odd years later!
