Tj heater core
« on: September 06, 2014, 07:10:44 PM »

Any one had this perish?
My tj started filling the cab with smoke (prob. Steam) out the vents. And foot vents have leaked coolant; perished heater core seemed the likely cause?
Seems to be a dash out job; anyone done it?

I had these pages bookmarked in case mine ever goes.

Bear in mind ours are a mirror image of this set up. Here's what's involved...

These are the only RHD ones I've seen advertised. Don't know how good they are, as most aftermarket ones (for LHD) seem to have fitment issues and don't give out as much heat as OEM, which may be three or four times more expensive.

Cheers guys.
I'd hoped the core may be a non handed part however looks like rhd screws us again.
But thanks to Johnny's link they don't seem to badly priced granted it's not oem.
Not looking forward to this task.
May bypass it short term.

I just remembered, p5hrr is selling the heater unit out of his TJ. Not having to split the case, or worry about an aftermarket core fitting, would make for a simpler swap.

Cheers for the suggestion Jonny, although I'm set on installing new: seeing as the dash has to come out I don't wAnt to risk having to do it again by using a used part.

If you can remove it, get it rebuilt or have one made using yours as a pattern.

I have just bought a new heater matrix for the Capri. Found this guy on ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/201177353146?_trksid=p2060778.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

He works at Motorads in Redditch, he runs the ebay shop, went & picked my rad up as its a 2 minute walk from my work & only paid £48 cash. They can make or adapt anything he said.

Email him, his contact details are in the ebay link. Tell him I told you to get in touch, he will remember me as I only got my rad yesterday.

If you need yours dropping off / collecting should you go down this route, just drop it round to our house mate.

Hope this helps
