Title: Injector seal replacement on WJ 2.7 CRD
Post by: Dutch on March 21, 2010, 01:25:04 PM
For future reference :  (because it will happen to you one day...... :icon_eek:)

Well known issue with the ML engines

Injector seals 5 x
Injector washer 5 x
Injector clamp bolts 5 x
(note : the stretch bolts are not re-usable and HAVE to be replaced)

All for the princely sum of GPB 26.02 (inc.vat)

Drop transverse gearbox bracket and fit longer bolts (3-4 inches) to keep in place
Stripping systems on cylinder head to gain access.
Drop back end of engine to create space above cilynder head to pull injector nbr 4 & 5 out.
Clean-up injector seats & shafts and general area iwo leaking injector
Rebuild as required.

8 hours labour @ GPB. 40,- = GBP.320,00 (ex vat)

Total bill : GBP 401.56 (in vat)

Garage went ahead replacing all 5 seals because the impact in labour and materials is negligable.  If nbr.4 went at a later date I'd have to go
through the whole process again or drill a hole in the plate above.
