Sand/media/soda blasting
« on: July 15, 2016, 06:28:27 PM »

Just had a approximate quote from a company that specializes in jeeps and military vehicles.
I have to take the cj6 apart and I didn't ask if the quote included collection and return

The body tub, wings, bonnet, grill, windscreen and tailgate blasted inside and out and then sprayed with primer £400-£450.

The chassis blasted and sprayed with primer around £120.

To those of you in the know is this a reasonable price ?

Assuming he's not going to rip you off for fixing any rust, I'd take his arm off.
What do you propose to do underneath, 'cos you surely wont want to start messing about trying to turn the tub over to seam seal and underseal when it's already in primer will you?
Maybe he can quote you happy on that too so you just get the fun bit.

most blasters will not fix any rust, just blast away all of the rust and leave what ever steel is left - sometimes very little

Then primer it to stop it rusting away further

He has advised popping up and having a chat before I book so I can see examples of what he and his team do and discuss things.
As far as underneath go's I was going to deal with any problems as they arise I know the bump stops need replacing but as for the rest I will have to wait and see I suppose.
Thanks for the comments
