Morning Gents,

Noticed recently that the biting point of the clutch on the L200 is about ½ inch to ¾ inch from the top of the pedal travel.

I only need to dip the clutch to this point to engage gears, there is no slippage under normal driving conditions as yet but I have noticed when towing and under strain,

as in reversing onto the drive (it’s a flat drive) I am getting the burning smell.

As you know it’s a company car and will be changed in the new year, but I am think maybe as I manage the fleet we look at moving it on sooner. We sell the vehicles to a

garage who also source the cars for us. 

What do you think?

Whats the consensus on mileage / clutch life on the L200 owners forums ?

Can it be adjusted or cheap enough to replace ?

You will need this for the winter months, replacemant gangster wagon can wait till spring young spunky

No sure on adjustment, dont think it is.

Re L200 forums, some have covered 150k plus on original clutch, one was 26k. So not a help really.

Mine is on 58k.

Replacment is around £1250 so far.

£1250 for a clutch    am i really that far out of touch with new cars? £250 gets me worried

That was through dealer to be fair.

Do you carry any type of extended warranty on your fleet?
And as you are the 'fleet mangler' can you authorise a repair at an independant garage?

Don't normally keep vehicles past 3 yrs to be honest. The L200 has already had a lot of warranty work done. Can get the worked on anywhere

That price probably includes a new DMF as well. Bloody stupid things. Still sounds a bit rich even if it does though. Presume there's a lot of labour involved in the job then?? Maybe an indy might give you a more sensible price. I think it was the Fiat Coupe - engine out to change timing belt according to Fiat, an indy could do it in -situ for less than half the offical rate still using OEM parts.

L200s are known for the clutch operating arm fracturing!
While you've got it apart replacing that, you might as well replace the clutch! So it can end up getting a little pricey
